What is Firewall Protection?
Firewall technology was discovered in the late 1980s and was actively used in the early 1990s. Unauthorized access to sensitive defense-related data and computer-stored information has forced scientists to come up with better security systems. Firewall technology is considered to be a result.
How Firewall Engineering Works?
Firewalls act as an intermediary between your computer and the outside world. This is a piece of software or hardware that is on your computer with an external unprotected network. All incoming data and information are routed through this proxy server.
What does the firewall do and cannot do?
The firewall detects and disables your computer's computer viruses and worms. It requires you to install anti-virus software and keep up to date with the latest virus definition updates to help prevent damage to your computer viruses and worms. It also blocks open dangerous attachment emails. You are a safety tip warning if you ask you to run a specific program. You can choose to either keep it blocked or unblocked. To some extent, it can also block spam, or e-mails from unknown sources, appear in your inbox.
Enable firewall protection
If you are running a service system with Service Pack 2 (SP2 for Microsoft Windows XP) or Windows Vista, Windows Firewall is enabled by default. However, some computer manufacturers and network administrators may turn it off. To make the firewall in Windows XP, go to "Startup" and click on "Control Panel." In the Control Panel "Windows Firewall" icon. Opened in the "Windows Firewall" dialog box, click on the "Enable (Recommended) radio button." Click "OK" to save the changes.
Add firewall exception
Sometimes, a firewall may block a program that you use by connecting to the Internet. If you can't use a program like AOL Messenger but you can still browse the web, then you need to add the program to the firewall exception list. This will allow you to block it using a program without a firewall. To add a firewall exception in Windows XP, go to "Startup" and "Control Panel Click." In the Control Panel, under the "Windows Firewall" icon. In the "Windows Firewall" dialog box, it created a "Add Exceptions" tab and click the "Click the program" button. In the "Add Program" dialog box opens, click the "Browse" button and navigate to the plan to add. In the selected program, the "Open" button. The plan has now been added to the firewall exceptions list. Click "OK" to save the changes.
